A pandemic of sleeplessness..

In a recent newspaper report, it was said that at least 2.4 billon people seek ways and medications for a good night’s sleep other than any other service or product globally. Many sleepless people keep looking at various methods to get back their sleep. According to Hinduism, sleep happens when the mind stops and the person is in a state of pure consciousness but with ignorance of his inner and higher nature. The meeting with the conscious personality every night for 8 to 9 hours is critical to the well being of any individual.

Sleep happens to put your mind and also brain to rest, and you can die if you go longer than 14 days without sleep. Insomnia is thus a universal problem which can be addressed by the regular practice of breath control, eating the right types of food and exercises- insomnia is known to sap the energy of the person affected by it and may be a sign of some inner deeper disease or a physical and mental illness. If you have a lot of these problems and they are worsening, then you have to seek help from a registered psychiatrist and a psychologist regularly. If you have mild sleeplessness then you can cure yourself with some home made cures and plant based medicines like a glass of warm milk at night or some chamomile tea. Many times slight measures taken before you hit your bed are all that you need to get good sleep like drawing the curtains, turning down your lights and meditating.

Listening to soothing music might also be of use to make your mind relax and to try to slow down for some relief. You should also cut down on your daily coffee intake especially at night in order to get a good night’s rest and sleep for 8 hours at least.

Many people portray sleeplessness as a sign of being busy- but you need to know that your performance and quality of work do get affected by your perpetual sleeplessness and overwork regularly. Sleep deprivation proves that you are a workaholic and such a person becomes unable to work with or take orders from unfortunately. Many sleepless people urge their employees or even friends and families to follow their rituals of insomnia but they should be shut down immediately.

Sleeplessness is not something to be proud of, in fact, you should practise the opposite of it quite naturally. Apart from getting and setting a food and diet plan, you should also tire yourself out physically in order to get some good quality sleep daily. Sleep apnea and light sleep are also some complaints of a serial sleep slacker and such symptoms need prompt medical attention regularly. Melatonin or the sleep super power curative is what you need if you are sleepless, but the best source of melatonin is a good night’s natural sleep.
