Most senior corporate bosses, even some public sector ones are called narcissistic, just like their film actor counterparts. What is narcissism, how many people are prone to it and what factors affect it? Narcissism is a personality disorder caused by some shortcoming in the brains of the patients it affects. It could also be a trait since birth- most people suffering from it are literally born with it.
Narcissists are supposed to be self centered, egoistic and self centered, some also possessing fake or phoney personalities. The worst of them turn out to be family breakers, sadistic and really unpalatable personalities.
A narcissist often ignores and discards other people’s accomplishments and their entire personas sometimes even. They are rude, cunning, violent and totally villainous to all those who cross their paths unfortunately. They suffer from a false sense of superiority and they feel that they can get and enjoy everything that their money can buy.
They are never seen to sympathize with anybody, and they live in a grandiose bubble that anyone can break in reality. They always want to be admired, and most of them become very (un)popular at the risk of sounding evil even. Some of the most villainous narcissists in the past were Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Saddam Hussain just to name a few.
These personalities are often very influential, mostly in the negative context historically. Aside from their professional selves, these people have quite evil personal selves even. In the present times Madonna, the popular American popstar singer, is quite a well known narcissist.
Most covert narcissists have behavioral handicaps with nearly all of them being typically arrogant and proud individuals possessing really grim attitude and adjustment problems.
Most narcissists can maul their prey intentionally- they cause hurt, damage and are totally debilitating in their manners and approaches. They might also be suffering from the Hubris syndrome unknowingly. People with narcissism are unpopular and hated massively. All these people care about is their own personality and personal needs and assets and belongings.
The Hubris syndrome can be seen in people in leadership roles mostly. Such people refuse to change and will never accept their faults and imperfections- they like to glorify themselves immensely, they are impervious to criticism, thinking that only their approach is the best to follow for everybody. Narcissism is a mental disease fast becoming a trend globally.
The covert narcissist is even more vicious because such a person cannot be identified instantly. They are normally surrounded by their sycophants so that they don’t get ostracized socially. Such people possess very fragile self beliefs, playing the victim card most skillfully. Such people are attention seekers and are often seen to be looking for some kind of support or reassurance or the other rather annoyingly.
